pretty men & women

This is it. That is, this is the very final time I'll say this, and the first time I'll mean it, truly - as in cross-my-heart-hope-to-die mean it. I shall blog on here, and I shall blog regularly. For the truth is, I read so many beautiful blogs, and I make so many lists and mental moodboards of things, that it simply doesn't make sense to not blog on my own. Laziness and procrastination are what keep stopping me, but I am hereby saying goodbye to those things and saying hello to organization, inspiration, and all-around loveliness.

For starters, my computer's desktop is becoming more and more cluttered, because I seem to be constantly taking screenshots of beautiful people. And, coincidentally (or not so coincidentally), nearly all of them are gorgeous sixties starlets.

I hope you enjoy these stunning girls, along with a dashing man or two. (A fair warning: if you don't like Brigitte Bardot or Catherine Deneuve, well, then I strongly suggest that you go no further). x

blousons

This post is over a month late (when I said I'd be blogging again, I meant it, I swear!), but sometimes real life gets in the way of things, and there's no way around that. Now that I'm settling back into the normal, slow-ish pace of life, I've finally had time to update my etsy shop, which was very badly in need of some sprucing up. My wallet will be thanking me for this (at least, fingers crossed!), and I know my once-messy closet is already thankful that a whole bevy of unworn items have now neatly been packed in "to ship" boxes and envelopes.

While my infatuation with lacy collars is a never-ending one, every now and then I have to learn to let go of some of my most precious items (it's a good way to perfect the art of not becoming too attached to people or things...). Thus, 'blousons' is now filled to the brim with the laciest of lacy collars, among other lovely vintage treasures.

Check out all of the items, here. xxx

back in business

My August resolution was to blog more, but it seems nearly half of August has slipped away without so much as a single post... but I promise, there are big things coming soon! I want to do what I've said I want to do (that's a mouthful) for years now: more outfit posts, and regular ones. I hope to start that sometime this week, but for now, I've put together a little collection of my latest vintage finds to tide you over. xxx

(from left to right: savers, goodwill, savers, buffalo exchange, buffalo exchange, savers, black & brown vintage)

The detailing on my lovely new pink sweater.

I finally have a bag large enough to fit all the books and film and other random things I insist on constantly carrying around with me...

I've temporarily moved houses/rooms, and as I was putting my favorite things on my new dresser, it appears that I instinctively organized everything cohesively without even realizing it. I put my floral, ladylike items in one section...

My retro, sixties-era treasures in an other (including a lovely picture of my parents at their wedding)...

And my nature-inspired things together in one corner.

I promise I'll start posting more before the summer is over. Meanwhile, you can follow me on twitter... x

the gram, pt. 2

Again, I've been a lazy blogger, and lazy in terms of fashion, and the only thing I have to post on here anymore seems to be something from my ever-growing instagram feed.... summer is quite a dull time for outfits, at least for me, as I feel much more comfortable in sweaters and tights and wool skirts and capes and so on, and far less comfortable in anything sleeve-less or too short (the struggles of being six feet tall...). Thus, my favorite outfits are mostly nonexistent, and, with dwindling funds, I haven't made too many fantastic clothing-related purchases in the past couple of months.

But to me, summer means fresh fruit and late-morning breakfasts and lots and lots of flowers, so at least something has kept me clicking my camera (even if it is just a phone camera right now...)

I have some photo-shoots to post shortly as well, so stay tuned!

framboise

The other day (all clad in my new-but-vintage pink polka-dot skirt from the darling Ms. Ashley Ording)   I met up with my lovely friend Sonja, to have a macaron-baking adventure (she hadn't ever made them, and I hadn't in nearly a year). Our original plan was to bake rose-flavoured macarons with homemade lychee-raspberry jam in the middle, but our end result turned out to be a plain shell with a mostly-raspberry (and slightly lychee flavoured) center. They were still utterly beautiful, though, and were well worth the five plus hours of baking!

Sonja, after it all. x

Me, mixing! x

A few were messed up, but most of them looked perfect. x

(And on a gorgeous little French plate). x

The most delicious organic raspberries; I was almost sad to mash them into a jelly. x

the gram

I told myself I wouldn't, but I too have been sucked into the all-too-lovely world of instagram. I've been doing a lot of photo-shoots lately (hooray!) and haven't had quite as much daily-life related stuff to blog about. However, I have been purchasing plenty of clothes (and other random trinkets) and have been using my phone to document all the little, marginally-insignificant moments that I find beautiful and that are keeping me going through a rather gloomy summer. (I do have adventures planned for the next few days, however! Don't fear!) x

Below is a mixture of instagram photographs and other little purchases and finds (un-edited in any way). x
