dress me up

I think I have a love-hate relationship with clothing. I could go on and on and list all the reasons why I love clothes, and why I hate them, but perhaps the most prominent one for why I sometimes can't stand them is: I have to wear them, and wearing them often makes them lose the splendour that they have while on a hanger, or while on a rack. There are so many beautiful pieces of clothing that I purchase out of sheer admiration, but that I never seem to love quite as much when they're draped on my own body. Thus, I seem to have drawer after drawer of beautiful things that never really get put to use.

These are some of the aforementioned! I adore every one of these pieces, but I simply can not figure out how to wear them and make them look flattering. I too often end up purchasing dresses or skirts or blouses (usually at thrift stores or markets, but occasionally at full retail price) that I never wear as much as I should. I hate to part with these, but I'm not sure what to do. I haven't had the heart to put them on my etsy just yet. Perhaps I'll hold on to them just a little bit longer, and will them to look lovely on me... or, if anyone is completely enamored with one of these, name your price, and perhaps I'll sell a dress or two!

Vintage lingerie and I, on the other hand, have a purely love relationship. I love scouring etsy and vintage boutiques for high-waisted lacy or silky tap pants.

On the bright side, during the large scouring/upturning of my drawers that I did this morning, I managed to finally organize my closet cohesively! I even hung up all of the blouses and skirts, in pairs, that I wear constantly. Oh, clothing. I can't help but confess to my occasional materialistic tendencies. x
